The breakfast buffet includes everything you could possibly want to set you up for the day from waffles and eggs cooked to order to healthy options like soya milk, yoghurt, pumpkin and linseed to add to your cereal. Come evening the buffet has been replenished with a thorough salad buffet, Canarian cheeses and a colourful dessert selection always on offer; the aroma of a barbecue greeting you on alternate nights with an a la carte menu on others.

The hotel is positioned a moment’s walk from the main beach, and 800 metres away from the nudist area, though if you are seeking an all over tan you can also use the spa’s discreet and secluded sunbathing area where costumes are quietly optional. The spa is a real delight to spend time in, and combined with the healthy options available in the buffet, you could easily come here for a detox, to lose weight or get fit – provided you can resist the desserts!
The hotel overlooks the sand dunes of Maspalomas and is easy walking distance from the Meloneras promenade which has an upmarket selection of restaurants, bars and shops which make a pleasant diversion come evening
Low Points
If you want to explore more than just the area directly outside the hotel you’ll need your own wheels as there aren’t any organised excursions on offer through the hotel itself to help you experience Gran Canaria’s unique natural and cultural side.
Due to the proximity to the sand dunes, which are a protected nature reserve, you do have to circumnavigate the reserve to reach the centre of Maspalomas or Playa Del Ingles, the area’s big resorts
If you’re looking for a resort dominated by other English guests or with a younger, livelier crowd come sundown this isn’t for you. There is a real mix of European nationalities and age ranges but the vibe is one of relaxation not hedonism
